The following project Breadcrumbs is a documentary project exploring the journey my father and I took with my grandfather's ashes to various significant locations in Yorkshire. This project explores themes of death, identity, family and grief. As we die, we leave remnants of our life experience to our loved ones, and changes you have made consequently changes the life course of the next generation. In Breadcrumbs, I use this opportunity to question how my identity, as well as my father's identity, has been shaped by my grandfather's life and death. Published as a book, my letter to my grandfather opens an unfinished dialogue between my grandfather and I, as well with the audience, asking them to question how their own family has transformed their identity.
