'Hidden' is a photographic exploration of the taboo surrounding mental health and the way in which society both celebrates mental health awareness, while still continuing to silence the troubling aspects of mental health that isn't socially acceptable in a constantly-connected society such as the constant feelings of isolation and loneliness, resulting in sufferers feeling misunderstood and ostracised.

Shot on medium format, and then superimposed digitally with handwritten experiences of my own journey with anxiety, I have attempted to convey through domestic and natural spaces, the way in which anxiety changes your perception of reality and the sad comfort one finds in feeling alone and unable to communicate your feelings surrounding mental health.

This project mainly draw upon themes of mental illness, the isolation/comfort one finds in the domestic space vs. the natural outdoors, and how mental health can shape one's identity, and the positive/negative aspects that result.
